Ait-Group Launches Game-Changing Propane Heat Pumps – Under 150g Refrigerant Charge!

German innovator Ait-Group has just unveiled groundbreaking residential heat pumps that use less than 150 grams of propane (R290)—setting a new standard for safety, efficiency, and sustainability in home heating.

German innovator Ait-Group has just unveiled groundbreaking residential heat pumps that use less than 150 grams of propane (R290)—setting a new standard for safety, efficiency, and sustainability in home heating.

Developed through the Fraunhofer ISE LC150 research project, these heat pumps deliver 6 kW of heating capacity with an exceptional Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) of 5.14—meaning 5.14 kWh of heat for every 1 kWh of electricity used!

Why This is a Big Deal

🔥 Ultra-Low Refrigerant Charge – Most propane heat pumps use ~5x more refrigerant, but Ait-Group’s models stay under 150g, allowing indoor installation (even in basements) under German safety laws.

🌱 Eco-Friendly Propane (R290) – A natural refrigerant with near-zero global warming potential (GWP=3), making it far greener than traditional refrigerants.

High EfficiencySCOP of 5.14 (at 35°C) and 3.96 (at 55°C), outperforming many conventional heat pumps.

❄️ Cooling Capability7.5 kW cooling output, making it a year-round HVAC solution.

Key Models & Specs

1. Alpha Innotec WZSV 63

2. Novelan WSV 6.3

Who Should Consider These Heat Pumps?

🏡 Single & Multi-Family Homes – Compact, efficient, and safe for indoor use.
🔄 Retrofit ProjectsSeparable cooling circuit module speeds up installation.
☀️ Solar-Powered Homes – Optimized for PV + storage integration.
🌍 Eco-Conscious BuyersR290 propane = minimal environmental impact.

The Future of Home Heating?

Ait-Group is the first industrial partner to commercialize Fraunhofer’s low-refrigerant heat pump tech, setting a new benchmark for safety and efficiency. With Europe pushing for gas boiler bans and heat pump adoption, innovations like this could accelerate the green transition.

Available now in Germany—could this be the heat pump of choice for sustainable homes?
