GCL Achieves 29.51% Efficiency for Perovskite-Silicon Tandem Module

reducing lab-to-factory transition time by 90%. The system produces 300 cells/day and analyzes 1,800 data sets daily.

GCL Optoelectronics, a subsidiary of GCL Group, has set a new world record with a 29.51% efficiency for its perovskite-silicon tandem solar module (2,048 cm²), certified by China’s National Institute of Metrology. This marks a significant improvement from 27.34% efficiency a year ago.

Key Highlights:

  • AI-Powered Manufacturing: GCL uses an AI-driven high-throughput production system with 52 sensors, reducing lab-to-factory transition time by 90%. The system produces 300 cells/day and analyzes 1,800 data sets daily.

  • High Uniformity & Scalability: Performance variation between batches is <0.75%, ensuring stable mass production.

  • Gigawatt-Scale Production:

    • First GW-scale production line under commissioning, targeting mass production by end of 2025.

    • Expected annual output: CNY 1 billion (~$138.8M) for 2.76 m² large-area tandem modules.

  • Other Milestones:

    • 19.04% efficiency achieved for a 1m x 2m perovskite single-junction module (April 2025).

    • 100 MW perovskite panel line commissioned in September 2021.
